Ajamu Duncan

Ajamu Duncan is an accomplished chemical and process engineer with extensive experience in process management, quality management, engineering, project management, project planning, continuous improvement, and leadership. For the past 5 years, he has served as Technical Manager for Jamalco, a joint venture between Noble Group and Clarendon Alumina Production (CAP) with a focus on bauxite mining and alumina production. In his role, Ajamu’s key responsibilities involve overseeing their tech services group, optimizing changes to different unit operations to ensure the best quality of aluminum shift, project planning and management, conducting safety testing and training, and directing the process coordination group in charge of their monitoring plan. His area of expertise is chemical engineering identifying de-bottle necking opportunities, and ensuring quality and efficiency.

Ajamu graduated with a MBA in Finance from University of the West Indies in 2009 and with a Master of Science in Bimolecular and Chemical Engineering from University of Pennsylvania in 2003. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Howard University in 2002. During his time at Howard, Ajamu was a Member of the National Society of Black Engineers, served as President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers – Howard University, and was a Chapter Member of the Caribbean Students Association. In addition, he has been involved with the National Association of Professional Engineering, and he is currently pursuing inclusion into the Jamaica Institution of Engineers, as well.  He is keen to network, increase his exposure and business contacts. Indeed, he believes the networking will afford him and the company opportunities to take advantage of different products, services and make quality connections. The key to Ajamu’s success is having an excellent educational foundation, dedication, and the desire to move up in the organization. He has also periodically participated in seminars, conferences, and public speaking engagements related to the company. When he’s not working, Ajamu enjoys spending time with his family, martial arts and soccer. He used to teach Sunday school and is interested in revisiting that sometime in the future.
